Life Drawing
I didn't practise life drawing for a month and almost forget how to draw. I was trying to remeber what I had learned in the past two years. I saw my instructor Moh's drawings on the wall. I have to say, his drawings are truly inspiring.

千里之外
Past...
Painted this after watching the Chinese music video 千里之外 in YouTube.
The style and the shots are pretty neat and soft. I remember my grandma has a photo of her wearing Chinese dress with the same hair style from the video.
Although she can't remember who her grandaughter is, but to me, she is the most beautiful grandma I have ever had.
I love you, grandma!

This is Robert, my producer. He is weird, but funny.
Mike from my studio is a great caricature artist. He did msn head shots for Louis and me with " Beer". =_=
Here is something I can't avoid doing at studio... ( I don't want to hide it anymore !! Arrrrrrrrrrr!)

Sketches
After watching Italy won the World Cup, my friend and I decided to go to English Bay and drew. It was a perfect day to sketch in Downtown. As I excepted, a lot of Italian were celebrating the victory by marching through the streets. While I was doodling, I saw a guy carring a sword and a shield walking by. I was about to scream like a little girl. He forgot his helmet and armor at home !
(I know... not really funny...)
My friend, Janelle. She turned out older than I thought...oops!

The House of Mirth
I was watching " The House of Mirth" last night and trying to caricature Gillian Anderson, but it didn't turn out the way I wanted. So, I tried to design Dr. Watson from "Sherlock Holmes". I read it when I was a kid and thought he was sophisticated, conservative, and wise. Do you think this drawing tells you what type of person he is ?

Wedding Invitation - Concept Developing
This is designed for my cousin's wedding invitation. He said that I made him looked too handsome and his friends won't be able to reconize him. Okay. It's fine, my dearest cousin. Let's make you really ugly. Like elephant man! Hahahaha!
BTW, any comment on the design ?

James Jean's Sketch
Drawn by James Jean
I was so glad that I went to Comicon today. James Jean did a sketch of elenphant boy on my sketch book. I couldn't believe that he really spent time to do a decent sketch for the people on the line waiting for his drawing.
The first time saw his work was in " Swallow" art book. I like his surreal style and I was really inspired how he can freely paint what he loves.
Today,I bought his art prints "Fables 54 - The Witchhunter Wears Hermès" and "Flip".
The Illustration for "flip" was to tell the reader to turn the magazine "Complex" upside down to read the 2nd half of the issue. For the painting "Fables 54 - The Witchhunter Wears Hermès", I think it is just his personal work. I went to his blog and I was totally fell for it. It is just beautiful and tragic like Kent Williams' .
I wanted to buy his art book, but the last one was sold to the person who was lining right in front of me. Funny thing was that he was animating Wubbsy at Bardel.
Had really good falafel plater for lunch today... pretty happy. ^^

Still Life
Ah... It's been a while since the last post. I miss life drawing so much that I even had a dream about it!
One thing I like to take bus is that I can actually practise drawing still life and try to fill up my sketch book ...
...I really miss the time when my classmates did caricature of one another. It was fun.

Painting Practise
I wondered if I change the painting to a night scene,it would work better for the evil magician's appearance. Thanks to Sean's suggestion on the painting. I toned down the background and resized the rides to give it a better composition and contrast.
After 3 hours of coloring on the painting, I felt like I distored the painting. Too much details and the light source is confused. I spent too much time on it. Finally, I had to stop this nonsence process and moved to work my build project for work.
My work has been going well so far. I really enjoy posing and building characters for Chaotic. I have had a lot fun with pushing the facial expression and posing in extreme angle. Although the design of the characters are not my favourite, but to learn the style of the show is a luxury to me.
Anyway, after doing research on playland on the Internet, I just want to redo my entire painting and redesign the rides. Ahhhhhhhhhh!
Have to go back to work... Any more suddestions on the painting ?

Blind Samurai
Finally, I fiinshed the painting this morning. It was inspired by Takeshi Kitano in Blind Samurai and Samurai Champloo. Thanks to Jesse for helping me to simplify the lines of the figure. I was pleased by the 9 by 12 Wacom table I bought last month. The Wacom pen can create really nice Chinese brush work in Photoshop. I want to do as many arts as possible before starting work....and learn to paint with Painter IX, too...
okay...
must sleep now... later~
